I have decided to write a short post surrounding Autumn/Winter and the pending festive season. Party season. I’ll be sharing with you my wardrobe staples for the season, style picks and giving a sneak peak of what’s in my basket.
As a new mum, I don’t think I will be able to participate with the festive parties, at least nothing crazy. However with a love for high street fashion and the glitz and glam of the festive period, I will still attempt to look the part, with a baby slung over my shoulder. I’ll give it my best shot anyway. Who knows, I could start a trend for mum’s all around the world, right? Ahem..
Okay, I’ll get to it. Below I will list and talk through some of my style picks (only a few as I could and would go o. I hope that you enjoy, who knows.. you.. might even find some inspiration. I always find that I get my style inspired from trolling through endless Instagram accounts and social media platforms. I favor Nicole Richie as my celebrity top fashionista. Fashion is meant to be fun and I love to mix girly with an edge. Enjoy.
The Baker boy hat.
This is something that I have already purchased and I have to say, I’m never taking this hat off. I find it super stylish and it can dress any outfit up or down. I’ll be coordinating this hat with a variety of items. Dressed up and casual. It can do no wrong.
Statement trousers: Stripes, lace and flare galore.
Topshop are killing it with the trouser game right now. It was a tough call but I opted for these beauties in the end. Not particularly festive,(where’s the glitter) but comfortable. These trousers are great for wrapping up under faux fur and teaming with trendy flats or a good boot. I think I’ll be teaming these with my trusty Dr. Martens and a bandeau top with a faux fur thrown over the top. For that grungy effect.
I’ve also been loving flares, something I always have to buy in petite due to my 5ft 2 frame, Topshop have a great range of petite flares in right now and I have already got my hands on the faux leather pair and a couple of fabric pairs for extra comfort. Great for lazy days, but also great for dressing up with a pretty top.
I love satin, it’s so easy to wear. Again you can dress it up with a great heel or you can dress it down with a pair of jeans and flats. The fabric is so versatile and looks good on anyone. Anything goes with satin, just ensure you spray the deodorant post dressing otherwise you’ll make the same rookie mistake as I did and end up with wet deodorant patches. Not cool. Follow my Instagram to see how I team my satin pieces.
Yep, it’s that time again. Leopard print gets me excited each year and I’m always on the hunt for the perfect leopard print faux fur. I’ve not yet got my hands on a staple leopard fur but I have my eyes on this number from ASOS which I think I might just have to treat myself to come pay day.
It is a little trashy and a bit squeaky. It can make you look awkward, especially if like me, you aren’t a 6ft supermodel with the body of a God. However, I can’t stop. Faux leather and vinyl at this time of year has me crazy. I’ve invested into a few pairs of faux leather and vinyl look pants and recently purchased the topshop style vinyl Leggings. I’ll see how I get on with them. I’ll be squeaking my way around Aberdeen, with a little hope, they will make my bum look good! A gal can dream.
What is a festive period without a bit of glam? I love sequins. I just love them. You can dress them up or down. Team them with a heel, a mule, a boot. Hell, you can even team sequins with a trainer and still look the part. There’s so much fun to have with sequins and I could spend hours playing. I’ll be adding to my collection this season. There’s SO much out there, I can’t choose a select few key pieces at this time.
THE tassle earring.
Accessories really are a game changer aren’t they? They can make or break any outfit. They can take a simple outfit from drab to fab. You can have so much fun accessorizing and collaborating statement accessories with outfits.
Accessories are certainly big with the high street fashion game right now. Bold and strong earrings can be found in any high street store. Topshop, Zara, Accessorize, New Look. There is so much colour and choice available. There is something out there to suit everyone, especially if like me, you love a good accessorie. I find it can just help to make an outfit or key piece stand out just that little bit more. Going out but don’t want to over do it with your outfit? Get working with accessories!!
I’m loving these Topshop numbers in a variety of colour but green is definitely a strong favourite of mine and sitting pretty in my shopping basket.
I hope that this has been an enjoyable post for you and if anything you may have come away with some ideas for yourself and styling outfits of your own. If you like my style, you can find me on Instagram, take a peak, I don’t mind.
Much love xx
