For Heavens scent: The five scents I’m wearing right now.

A little out of my usual blogging style, I’ve branched out and went for a little light reading to share. I hope you don’t mind, taking a little break from baby talk and parenting woes right now. Why? Well, because things are good and I don’t want to risk jinxing that and suffering a bad night of teething pains. I’ve come to like sleep.

To keep it light and easy to read, I’ve decided to share my five favourite scents right now, the go to perfumes I use daily and the perfumes which I hold close for a special occasion, using only on a big day. Here goes, I hope you enjoy.  First up on the list..

Miu Miu:

Gifted by Euan on his trip from Malaysia, it holds a special place in my heart. My weekend scent, a little spicy and brings a sense of night fever with it. A scent that would suit a fancy restaurant, a classy establishment, a scent I wear to go a walk with the dog on a Sunday (fancy doesn’t work for me). Regardless of how and when you wear it, it’s a sexy and spicy scent that stays put. A wee scoosj and you are good to go from morning to night. I love it.

Chanel No. 5 :

This needs no introduction, a cult classic that has been worn through the ages and screams femininity. I find this smell romantic and I like the scent it leaves behind in your skin at the end of a busy day. Faint but powerful,it never brings a bad day. I use this for special occasions, birthdays, Christmas, family events.

Some days, If I feel a little flirty, event or not, I’ll give myself a wee spray, throw on a pretty dress and suddenly I’m Marlyin Monroe.

La Vie Est La Belle

Ah Lancome, always deliver a beautiful scent. Girly, sweet and oh so floral. Always a treat and my daily go to. I love this scent, I’m on my second bottle, close to beginning a third. I find this smell just reminds me of a candy shop, sweet and strong. It hits you right away and leaves a lasting impression through the day. A scent that makes me happy.

With a bottle almost as sweet as the smell, it’s hard not to resist. Next time you pass the perfume counter, I dare you to take a sniff. You won’t be disappointed and may leave with a lighter purse.

Stella McCartney:

POP by Stella is absolutely delightful. I was gifted this by my Mother for Christmas and adore it. Each year, Mum gets my sister and I to choose a perfume for Christmas, 2017 I chose POP.

Sweet, feminine and simply delicious, it really is good enough to eat. I dabble with this from day to day, I like to use a few scooshes a time as it’s just so yummy. The smell is light and floaty but stays put for the whole day. Even when faded it still smells lovely. A light and delightful scent for those Summer days exploring in the sunshine.

The bottle is also quite funky and the campaign for this was full of all things pretty and pink. Really glad that I got on board with the brand and gave POP a whirl. It unleashes my girly side each time I wear it.

Marc Jacobs:

Twinkle – one of the latest editions of the daisy brand that Jacobs have been committed to for years. I am avid fan of the whole range and have been through more Daisy than I can remember.

Working through the new and improved Dasiy for years, the Summer editions and the limited editions. I think that my love of High fashion perfume began with a variation of Daisy and I’m sure I’ve lost more pay cheques than I’d care to admit to the perfume counter in Debenhams.

Anyway, this one is special and still boxed. It will remain so until my Wedding day as its so special to me. The purple bottle immediately caught my eye and from the first test smell I was, I am, hooked. Exactly like childhood sweets, parmaviolets. This sent is both nostalgic and delicious, I seriously can’t get enough.

I had thought my Daisy days were over but here we are, Marc Jacobs have done it again and caught my breath with the delicious smells they create. My Wedding day can’t come soon enough, I will walk down the aisle of the registrant feeling like a wee dream with this smell glued to my skin. A keeper and a go to for years to come. Thank you Marc.

Do you have a favourite scent? A smell that takes your mood to an instant high? I hope you enjoyed this wee read, I thought that a little light reading mixed in with all the heavy stuff and the emotional issues can be a breath of fresh air. Don’t you think?

My top five beauty picks for Winter.

Hello you lovely bunch. I’ve decided to do a post on some essentials I’ll be using this Winter. I have chosen to share my top FIVE picks with you lot. Now, don’t say I’m not kind.

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The days are long and dark, weather is cold, and the natural forces are ready to take their toll on our bodies. I love Winter and the whole Festive period, I can even deal with the darker days, what I don’t love about the Season is the condition it leaves my body in. That red raw, runny nose, chapped and sore lips, dry skin and dull hair. Sound familiar?

Well this year, I’m prepared. I won’t succumb to the cold. I’m ready to face it with some top products that I have been absolutely loving.

I have set out my top winter essentials that I use religiously each day and night with a little review of each product. I do hope you enjoy.

Simple hydrating moisturiser

I’m a big fan of the simple skin care range and always have been. It’s inexpensive and perfect the perfect match for my skin. As I have dry and sensitive skin I have to be careful with the products that I use.

Anything can bring me out in a rash or wash my skin out. I used to love Lush face masks and scrubs but my skin doesn’t take to them anymore and they bring me out it a sore rash. Especially since pregnancy, my skin has taken a turn for the worst, seldom products give me any protection without causing problems.

Trust me I’ve tried and tested a lot of products over the past year and Simple came out on top each time. Even beating the skin care professionals Clairns and Clinique!

All while being a great, kind to skin moisturising lotion it doesn’t break the bank either. Great if you are on a budget.

Simple is great and leaves my skin super hydrated with a dewy glow. Some days, I just slap on simple and a little concelor and I’m good to go. It’s hassle free and works wonders on my dry skin.

The body shop lip balm.
Born lippy

I used to be more of a lipstick gal and would wear anything from nudes to the most bold of brights. A MAC lipstick was my go to, I was forever rushing out on pay day to buy a new shade from the store. A purple lip was a night out essential.

I’ve recently toned down my look from day to day and now favor the more natural and dewy look for my lips without the need for lipsticks. Now that nights out have become a thing of the past, the bold colours have been stashed away.

I love the body shop and the range of lip balms which they have. Cruelty free too! The lip balms leave my lips super hydrated and protected not to mention that they smell good enough to eat and come in gorgeous packaging. You will catch the eye of others with one of these beauties. I’m not kidding.

I’m currently obsessed with the strawberry stick balm in the born lippy range. It has a slight pink tint to add a colour pop to the lips aswell as smelling delicious!!keeps lips hydrated perfectly for up to five hours without having to re apply. What more could you want?

Benefits Benetint (a classic)

I’ve favoured Benefit since I was around fifteen. The products are gorgeous and there is such a wide range. Something for everyone. Products are well worth the price tag as they last for such a long time. True classics.

During the Winter, I’ll be using my benetint for my cheeks and lips to give my face a little perk of rose. You can apply this in layers to build up from a light coverage to a bold red stain. Perfect for being on the move and taking you from day through to night as it’s quick and convenient to apply.

I love it and favour it all year round. Here’s to those party ready rosy cheeks and pouty lips this Winter.

L’Oréal Elvive hair serum

_20171108_144636.JPG

I find that the cold and harsh Winter days play havoc with my hair, especially having recently gone lighter, my hair needs a little extra protection to save it from drying out.

This serum is a God send, I use two drops morning and night and I’m good to go. It really makes my hair feel lighter, draws out any knots and adds a little shine. What’s not to love? In an instant I have super glossy locks.

Scent – Miu Miu

With a new Season comes a new scent.

I love this perfume by Miu Miu, it definitely comes with a price tag but it will last forever and in my opinion is worth the cost. All you need is a little spray and you are good to go. The scent hangs around all day long with no need to top up. Perfect not to mention easy convenience.

I’m loving this scent for Winter. It’s a little spicy and makes you feel super warm and cosy. The new Season calls  the time to mix up your perfume to something a bit darker and heavier than the sweet Summer scents of florals. I love floral and girly scents but with the darker days, I wanted something a little heavier. For me, this is the perfect go to. I have met my Winter match. Of course I have a few others on my hit list to buy. I’m looking out for a classic Chanel next. For the moment though, I’ll stick with this. What is your scent of the season?

I hope that you have enjoyed this post. I thought it would be useful to share some of my beauty picks for the Winter months. What are you using this Winter?

Aberdeen blogger event at Lush cosmetics Aberdeen 20.10.2017

IMG_20171021_081340_011I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to a blogging night for Aberdeen based bloggers hosted by the lovely team at Lush Aberdeen on the 20th of October. I am going to write a short spell about the event and my night out. My first night out as a new Mum – kind of a big deal.

I decided to dress up a little for the occasion and spent most of the day trying to get myself ready. With a newborn, you have to just grab any five minutes that you can and get ready in stages. It’s a whole process that takes most of the day. I tried on most of my wardrobe, when Euan came home from work for lunch, I was surrounded by dresses and hangers on the bed, desperately trying to make a decision around what to wear.

I opted for a black cami playsuit layered on top of a recent polyamide printed top I purchased at Zara. I teamed this with some black cowboy boots a faux fur jacket, a mini bag and my new and favourite go to, the baker boy style hat. I can’t get enough of this hat, seriously.

I met up with my friend and fellow mum to a newborn who just happens to be a blogger too, Holly. We decided to meet at a bar located in the city centre and stopped off for a few sneaky red wines and a wee gossip before heading off to Lush for the evening.

The event was held from 7-9 PM and it gave the chance to meet and chat with fellow local bloggers, all whilst exploring the store and the range of products out of hours. We basically had a lock in at the store. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my first night out post baby. Good company, cosmetics and glitter. Em, is this heaven?

The staff gave us a warm welcome and there were a selection of vegan snacks and refreshments to help yourself to as you wondered around and browsed the products on the shelves which were beautifully presented and full of goodies.

IMG_20171020_193929I love lush cosmetics at this time of the year, I find that the store is extra special and full of excitement. Filled with Halloween treats and the Christmas stock. There was plenty of glitter around and so many fabulous seasonal smells. The store sure had plenty of energy.

I had a great time browsing the goods. I particularly loved the range of perfumes that were on offer, I didn’t purchase any but I think I might just be adding Amelie May to my Christmas list this year. Trust me, it smells delicious. Perfectly sweet and girly, just the way I like my perfumes to be. I advise all of you fellow ladies to check this out now!

During the course of the evening we got the chance to make our own Butter Bear which was a lovely touch to the night and gave the chance to get our hands dirty. My bear was not quite perfectly formed, it’s safe to say I don’t think I’ll land a job at Lush anytime soon. I can’t wait to try and test out the product that I created at home though. I’ve tried the butter bear previously and I really like the way it leaves my skin feeling. Silky smooth and perfectly glowy. It’s such a treat for the skin.

IMG_20171020_191754I hadn’t before really explored the cosmetics range but last night at the store I got to have a good play around with the make up and my gosh, I loved it. The whole range on offer is fab and I particularly loved the highlighters and powders. So shimmery and left your skin feeling and looking amazing. I scooped up some highlighters for myself to take home and experiment with. Safe to say, I’ve already been playing around.

Before leaving for the night, all the bloggers who attended were gifted with a generous bag of the stores goodies. In this included a wash bar, bath bombs, lip scrubs. It was great little treat to end the night with. Who doesn’t love a goodies bag? When it comes filled with cosmetics, even better.

IMG_20171021_081340_017

Myself and Holly ended up finishing off the night by heading to a bar for a bottle of red to share after a busy evening of browsing and spending! I had such a great time and definitely got the sense of freedom. Had I not bad a seven week old at home, I could have happily stayed out past 10pm and had a few more drinks but with other priorities we called it a night and headed home early. It was great to get out and get some alone time to be myself and not just a Mum but my goodness, coming home to your family and snuggling up for a cuddle is the best feeling in the whole world.
