My Bridal style.

Hi again, as previously mentioned I am now writing as a married woman, a little crazy, right? Seems that it wasn’t so long ago I just started dating, Euan and now here we are. A home, a baby and a marriage. Life can be a funny thing and take you in all directions. Some you, I, didn’t even think were possible. I’ve always said I’d be open about our wedding arrangements, the day, the looks, the photographs, so here I am writing this blog for you all at 11.04pm as everyone else sleeps.

I’ll not dive right into the whole Wedding day round up right now as it would be impossible to put it all down and give it justice with my words. I’m still trying to process the whole day, the hype and buzz around it all and I am trying to get used to being known as a Mrs, or a wife.

I’ll start off the batch of my wedding day blogs lightly, I’d like to share with you some pictures of my bridal style. Not your typical white wedding. Not quite the pristine Bride and not very traditional but I made my wedding day my own and composed my look in a way that fitted around my personal style.

I opted for a yellow dress, yes, yellow. A high street gown In my favourite colour with a cowl neck, low back and a side split up the leg. Ankle grazing in length and a satin material. There wasn’t much to my dress, it was sleek and simple. A classic cut and classic style. The colour spoke for itself. I teamed my dress with some glitter gold fingernails and a bouquet of lillies and foilage. Again, keeping it simple and classic.

Worn with a champagne faux fur stole which I bought from an etsy store and accessorised with a blue brooch my Mother purchased for me. Along with my stole, I accessoried with some chandelier rhinestone earrings with a hint of blue and a rather large, rather shiny tiara which matched the earrings perfect.I had a garter but I chose not to wear this as it was noticeable through my satin dress and gave the effect of a lumpy leg.

The earrings and brooch worked with the whole something blue carry on and the tiara made me feel like a little bit of a Princess, even though initially I wanted nothing that would draw attention or cause a fuss. Here I am on my Wedding day wearing a yellow gown, and accessories that would blind you if you caught them in the light. You have to laugh at the irony.

_20180905_020109I wore Carvela rhinestone shoes in a grey/silver tone with painted red toenails to finish off my look. Block heels and an open toe sandal, my perfect cinderella slipper and no toes were harmed while wearing them throughout the day, something I was very conscious off. Who wants blisters? Especially before embarking on a Honeymoon full of walking. Not me.

With my hair I was torn between an up do and wearing my hair down. So many hair styles, so little time. The night night before we married, the night before my hairdresser appointment, I played around at the hotel and decided to go with a hair up style. It was around midnight, I’d had some champagne and I was downright tired. The decision was made, I’d settled for the option of a good sleep over countless hair tutorials.

A low bun with no strays. The decision wasn’t easy, but I wanted a look that would be hassle free and require little maintenance throughout the day. An up do also meant that I could secure my tiara and it would remain in place (with the help of a dozen hair grips and spray).

With a baby who lowers to grab, pull, you name it and a September wedding with unpredictable Scottish weather, I didnt want to leave my hair down and risk looking as though I’d been dragged through a hedge. I wanted to have wedding photographs that would do the day justice after all, you only get married once, believe me, once is enough too. I was shattered by the end of the evening.

For my make up look, I contemplated doing this in my own but opted for a full face of make up to be done at the local hairdresser salon, Linton and Mac. Boy  I’m glad that I did, I’d have never pulled together such a look on my own. My make up turned out just how imagined. A light coverage of foundation, a dewy glow with a hint of bronze and a gold smokey eye blended with light brown shades.

I opted against false eyelashes and went for mascara instead to give a less harsh effect, and finished off with a pink lip. Initially we tested out a nude lip but it was just too plain for the desired effect and blended into my skin tone which I didn’t want. It just didn’t look quite right but the pop of pink worked wonders.

I left the salon feeling totally over dressed and done up for a Tuesday but delighted with how my hair and make up had turned out. I walked back to the hotel feeling shy, my make up was extreme in comparison to my usual two minute fix up job and I thought that everyone was looking at me, after all it was a Tuesday morning, not exactly the timeof day for a Saturday night glam session.

I can’t thank the girls enough for helping to fix me up and I can’t imagine a better team to have  chosen to help with my Bridal glam. Plus, the glass of prosecco at 10AM gave some Dutch courage and went down a treat. Prosecco at 10AM by myself? Perhaps shouldn’t make a habit of that or announce it as public knowledge. Anyway, 1000 hair grips, a tin of hair spray and an hour later, I was good to go. Thank you Linton and Mac for a great Morning pamper.

Overall, I completed my look with a rhinestone birdcage veil which I fixed myself before headed to the suite to marry. I feel as though my Bridal style was quite 1920s flapper girl, and I pulled it together just as I wanted. Certainly not my every day style, nor something I could rock on an average day but on my Wedding day, I got to rock whatever the hell I wanted and I decided to go big or go home on the sparkles. I certainly wasn’t going home, it was an all out sort of day and I’d do it all again in a minute.

I can’t imagine myself ever having been the bride in the white dress with the bouffant blow dry. I done things on my own scale and I felt pretty damn amazing. My dress was ruined by the evening, with Eleanor spitting her medicine onto me, drool, you name it.

I was kneeling on the floor, playing with my baby and hitting the cake way too hard. I hardly held my bouquet, my faux fur got stashed under the Pram and forgotten and my tiara was a little lopsided by the end of the day. My high Street yellow dress had served me well and I had the greatest day. It wasn’t about looking perfectly polished or smelling of roses. It was about becoming a family with my family and close friends around, the meaning of our marriage is much deeper rooted than the dress ever could be.

As a Mum of a one year old, I expected no miracles and even as a Bride, I was still very much on Mum duty. My tiara may have fallen but my smile never once did. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I am. Now a Mother and a wife. I share the same name as my Husband and Daughter and I have high hopes for our future as a family.

My top five beauty picks for Winter.

Hello you lovely bunch. I’ve decided to do a post on some essentials I’ll be using this Winter. I have chosen to share my top FIVE picks with you lot. Now, don’t say I’m not kind.

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The days are long and dark, weather is cold, and the natural forces are ready to take their toll on our bodies. I love Winter and the whole Festive period, I can even deal with the darker days, what I don’t love about the Season is the condition it leaves my body in. That red raw, runny nose, chapped and sore lips, dry skin and dull hair. Sound familiar?

Well this year, I’m prepared. I won’t succumb to the cold. I’m ready to face it with some top products that I have been absolutely loving.

I have set out my top winter essentials that I use religiously each day and night with a little review of each product. I do hope you enjoy.

Simple hydrating moisturiser

I’m a big fan of the simple skin care range and always have been. It’s inexpensive and perfect the perfect match for my skin. As I have dry and sensitive skin I have to be careful with the products that I use.

Anything can bring me out in a rash or wash my skin out. I used to love Lush face masks and scrubs but my skin doesn’t take to them anymore and they bring me out it a sore rash. Especially since pregnancy, my skin has taken a turn for the worst, seldom products give me any protection without causing problems.

Trust me I’ve tried and tested a lot of products over the past year and Simple came out on top each time. Even beating the skin care professionals Clairns and Clinique!

All while being a great, kind to skin moisturising lotion it doesn’t break the bank either. Great if you are on a budget.

Simple is great and leaves my skin super hydrated with a dewy glow. Some days, I just slap on simple and a little concelor and I’m good to go. It’s hassle free and works wonders on my dry skin.

The body shop lip balm.
Born lippy

I used to be more of a lipstick gal and would wear anything from nudes to the most bold of brights. A MAC lipstick was my go to, I was forever rushing out on pay day to buy a new shade from the store. A purple lip was a night out essential.

I’ve recently toned down my look from day to day and now favor the more natural and dewy look for my lips without the need for lipsticks. Now that nights out have become a thing of the past, the bold colours have been stashed away.

_20171108_144706.JPG

I love the body shop and the range of lip balms which they have. Cruelty free too! The lip balms leave my lips super hydrated and protected not to mention that they smell good enough to eat and come in gorgeous packaging. You will catch the eye of others with one of these beauties. I’m not kidding.

I’m currently obsessed with the strawberry stick balm in the born lippy range. It has a slight pink tint to add a colour pop to the lips aswell as smelling delicious!!keeps lips hydrated perfectly for up to five hours without having to re apply. What more could you want?

Benefits Benetint (a classic)

I’ve favoured Benefit since I was around fifteen. The products are gorgeous and there is such a wide range. Something for everyone. Products are well worth the price tag as they last for such a long time. True classics.

During the Winter, I’ll be using my benetint for my cheeks and lips to give my face a little perk of rose. You can apply this in layers to build up from a light coverage to a bold red stain. Perfect for being on the move and taking you from day through to night as it’s quick and convenient to apply.

I love it and favour it all year round. Here’s to those party ready rosy cheeks and pouty lips this Winter.

L’Oréal Elvive hair serum

_20171108_144636.JPG

I find that the cold and harsh Winter days play havoc with my hair, especially having recently gone lighter, my hair needs a little extra protection to save it from drying out.

This serum is a God send, I use two drops morning and night and I’m good to go. It really makes my hair feel lighter, draws out any knots and adds a little shine. What’s not to love? In an instant I have super glossy locks.

Scent – Miu Miu

With a new Season comes a new scent.

I love this perfume by Miu Miu, it definitely comes with a price tag but it will last forever and in my opinion is worth the cost. All you need is a little spray and you are good to go. The scent hangs around all day long with no need to top up. Perfect not to mention easy convenience.

I’m loving this scent for Winter. It’s a little spicy and makes you feel super warm and cosy. The new Season calls  the time to mix up your perfume to something a bit darker and heavier than the sweet Summer scents of florals. I love floral and girly scents but with the darker days, I wanted something a little heavier. For me, this is the perfect go to. I have met my Winter match. Of course I have a few others on my hit list to buy. I’m looking out for a classic Chanel next. For the moment though, I’ll stick with this. What is your scent of the season?

I hope that you have enjoyed this post. I thought it would be useful to share some of my beauty picks for the Winter months. What are you using this Winter?

Aberdeen blogger event at Lush cosmetics Aberdeen 20.10.2017

IMG_20171021_081340_011I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to a blogging night for Aberdeen based bloggers hosted by the lovely team at Lush Aberdeen on the 20th of October. I am going to write a short spell about the event and my night out. My first night out as a new Mum – kind of a big deal.

I decided to dress up a little for the occasion and spent most of the day trying to get myself ready. With a newborn, you have to just grab any five minutes that you can and get ready in stages. It’s a whole process that takes most of the day. I tried on most of my wardrobe, when Euan came home from work for lunch, I was surrounded by dresses and hangers on the bed, desperately trying to make a decision around what to wear.

I opted for a black cami playsuit layered on top of a recent polyamide printed top I purchased at Zara. I teamed this with some black cowboy boots a faux fur jacket, a mini bag and my new and favourite go to, the baker boy style hat. I can’t get enough of this hat, seriously.

I met up with my friend and fellow mum to a newborn who just happens to be a blogger too, Holly. We decided to meet at a bar located in the city centre and stopped off for a few sneaky red wines and a wee gossip before heading off to Lush for the evening.

The event was held from 7-9 PM and it gave the chance to meet and chat with fellow local bloggers, all whilst exploring the store and the range of products out of hours. We basically had a lock in at the store. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my first night out post baby. Good company, cosmetics and glitter. Em, is this heaven?

The staff gave us a warm welcome and there were a selection of vegan snacks and refreshments to help yourself to as you wondered around and browsed the products on the shelves which were beautifully presented and full of goodies.

IMG_20171020_193929I love lush cosmetics at this time of the year, I find that the store is extra special and full of excitement. Filled with Halloween treats and the Christmas stock. There was plenty of glitter around and so many fabulous seasonal smells. The store sure had plenty of energy.

I had a great time browsing the goods. I particularly loved the range of perfumes that were on offer, I didn’t purchase any but I think I might just be adding Amelie May to my Christmas list this year. Trust me, it smells delicious. Perfectly sweet and girly, just the way I like my perfumes to be. I advise all of you fellow ladies to check this out now!

During the course of the evening we got the chance to make our own Butter Bear which was a lovely touch to the night and gave the chance to get our hands dirty. My bear was not quite perfectly formed, it’s safe to say I don’t think I’ll land a job at Lush anytime soon. I can’t wait to try and test out the product that I created at home though. I’ve tried the butter bear previously and I really like the way it leaves my skin feeling. Silky smooth and perfectly glowy. It’s such a treat for the skin.

IMG_20171020_191754I hadn’t before really explored the cosmetics range but last night at the store I got to have a good play around with the make up and my gosh, I loved it. The whole range on offer is fab and I particularly loved the highlighters and powders. So shimmery and left your skin feeling and looking amazing. I scooped up some highlighters for myself to take home and experiment with. Safe to say, I’ve already been playing around.

Before leaving for the night, all the bloggers who attended were gifted with a generous bag of the stores goodies. In this included a wash bar, bath bombs, lip scrubs. It was great little treat to end the night with. Who doesn’t love a goodies bag? When it comes filled with cosmetics, even better.

IMG_20171021_081340_017

Myself and Holly ended up finishing off the night by heading to a bar for a bottle of red to share after a busy evening of browsing and spending! I had such a great time and definitely got the sense of freedom. Had I not bad a seven week old at home, I could have happily stayed out past 10pm and had a few more drinks but with other priorities we called it a night and headed home early. It was great to get out and get some alone time to be myself and not just a Mum but my goodness, coming home to your family and snuggling up for a cuddle is the best feeling in the whole world.
